We want to wish you and your family a Happy and Safe Halloween.

Yet in the midst of the parties and costumes, we can't help but feel deep remorse for the loss of two children last night just blocks from our Naperville office. As we await details, we know that at least two families are mourning the loss of these children. We extend our deepest sympathy to all of them. We cannot begin to express our sadness at this tragedy. We call on our all families to pray for those so affected in this tragedy.

There are no 'perfect' words to try to explain this event to your children. Certainly hiding the tragedy won't work in our connected world. We encourage you to talk about the loss with your kids who are able to understand some parts of this loss. None of us can say why it occurred, but it's ok to let your children ask the questions. They need comfort that their world remains safe--that they can come to you to discuss their concerns. It's far better to hear it from you.

Please join us in praying for the families so hurt by this tragedy. Especially remember the children at Brookdale and Thayer Middle School as they live in the children's neighborhood.   One of the children went to Scott Elementary and the other went to Brookdale.
